LTomay,
Restorative Equity Educator ~Sage & Wellbeing Waymaker
My commitment to the advancement of humanity is to empower leaders to dismantle inequity, align their voice with their values, and inspire transformative accountability through truth, equity, and love. My research challenges the misappropriation of restorative justice and reclaims it through restorative equity,
centering Indigenous and Afrocentric knowledge systems.

Restorative Justice as shared by Fania Davis  is a decolonial way of being that centers traditional indigenous knowledge with the transformative power to deepen relationships, heal humanity and disrupt the transmission of harm. While this is true, RJ  has been colonized which limits its transformational potential. As a first generation PhD candidate, I was interviewed while serving as the Resident Practioner & Grad Assistant at the Center for Restorative Justice at the University of San Diego where I also was an instructor in the Leadership & Facilitation Certificate program.

Hear from Fania Davis, JD, PhD on Restorative Justice

“Restorative justice risks losing relevance if we, as practitioners, do not become more skillful at identifying, navigating, and transforming racial harm… Given the nation’s changing demographics and persistent, if not deepening, racial disparities, a restorative justice approach that ignores these inequities will be perceived as uninformed and uncaring, if not irrelevant and racist.” - Fania Davis, The Little Book of Race and Restorative Justice

WJ honors the indigenous knowledge represented in restorative justice intersecting with social work. WJ acknowledges the land it serves on which is that of the Lenape peoples. This video is from their land in NY.

Healing is like learning and we do it everyday. Together, we can HEAL Humanity Now! ~Tomay
